This morning I completed one of four Styrofoam walls for my set. I guess it took me about 5 hours or so, but I haven't yet painted it. Also, I have to frame it, install an old window in 2 of the panels and dress it out so it appears authentic and old.
I met with a couple of my actors Monday. They did a quick read of a few scenes and planned to meet this coming Monday for a more extensive rehearsal. This afternoon, I'm heading over to Asheville to meet my male lead to go over a few lines and better define the character in his mind.
I'm in the market for a long hair, red wig. Gotta get on that. I've just been so busy building my sets that some of the less time-consuming items on my to-do list have been neglected. But soon. Soon I will be the proud owner of a long hair, red wig.
I believe I may be shooting 16 hour days the first couple of days of production. Then I'll taper off to 10-12 or so. In the end, we will do whatever we have to do to get it wrapped but this will be a great beginning.
I'll probably go to a favorite Starbucks in Asheville after meeting my lead today. Hopefully, I can simply relax and let the movie roll around in my head to see how it feels. Most of the time, however, I just get lonely. I sit there and think, "I want to be home with my wife and baby." Even though they are asleep some of the time when I return, my baby usually, my wife at times, depending on the hour, it still gives me a feeling of completion.
I've got the usual butterflies, common with just weeks to go before principle photography begins, indicating that I'm still somewhat human, despite what some might think. It's always great to have that confirmation.
Now I have to answer a few emails from various individuals that I've been putting off, before someone labels me a procrastinator. A what?
Goodbye.
