Pot overflows with projects...

It seems I have a lot going on right now. I decided today that I needed to write it all down on paper, organize and prioritize. As of now, most is in my head only, not a particular great place to be when you're talking about more than a few things.

Sometime this week I will release my mini-book that I had worked on several months ago. I have to organize a plan of action for it so it doesn't sit in the dark of my closet for its lifetime. I've given it some thought and have a tentative course of action mapped out. But, not a priority really. Priorities, career ones that is, basically deal with making movies.

In about 2 weeks I plan to shoot a short film that I wrote a couple of weeks ago. I have about 4 people lined up to help on this project. Yesterday I drove around Asheville to locate a perfect park atmosphere but didn't quite find the right match for my needs. Another day perhaps. I did, however, land at my favorite coffee spot, Green Life, and enjoyed some productive think-time.

In a few weeks I am helping out one of my new partners with his short film. It also will be shot in a park atmosphere. Mere coincidence that we both wrote scripts involving park settings. We had decided at a meeting at Starbucks a few weeks ago that when we met in a week, we'd present each other short scripts for our projects and this is just how it worked out.

He and I are also planning to shoot a feature length film each, it looks like mine first then his. I already have written a solid romantic comedy that I can get excited about. Today, I crunched the numbers and it looks like I may need up to $10,000 for this one, which would greatly surpass my previous two budgets combined. Always looking up, not down, ahead, not back. I will do all I can to raise the money. If I happen to fall a little short, I think I could make it work for 6 or 7. That would be tight, though. I'm thinking a 10 day shoot, paying everyone.

I've also been editing some behind-the-scenes footage for short YouTube clips and have uploaded 3 to date. You can see them by typing purpleboxmovie in the YouTube search (no spaces.) I've also started a MySpace page and a Blogspot page for The Purple Box. I have yet to develop either with much thought but at least its a presence. I'll work on getting all my trailers and clips here on this blog as soon as I can, it just takes a little time.

Some people I've shown The Purple Box to have stated that it could catch on as a cult film. I have to find that nitch of people who love weird, abstract psychological dramas made with a couple of cents.

I will be posting another 6-10 behind-the-scenes clips on various video-sharing sites but focusing mostly on YouTube. Drop me a line to say hi. I like to know who is still with me.

Till then - out.
