Oversleeping, Indie Filmmaking & Macchiatos

This morning the sun woke me up, not the usual beep-beep of my cell phone. Yes, I overslept. Within 7 minutes I was at the coffee shop brewing up some liquid motivation and wishing I was at the beach. Then, at 10 minutes until 7:00, with the open sign turned to close, with all the lights off in the dining area, with our neon open sign off, through the darkness, in walks oblivious customer number one.

I wanted to throw a coffee pot at him.

I only had one coffee cannister out and told him so. I dared him to want another variety. But he wanted a macchiato with 2 extra shots, arguably the most expensive drink on the menu, unless of course he had ordered a straight 20 oz. black espresso, which is usually reserved for someone who is trying to revive a dead person.

So how could I be catty toward someone who had just ordered the most expensive drink, ten minutes before I was officially open?

Ah---then I saw him stuff several packs of Splenda into his pocket. What the hell? Did the think there was a Splenda tree around back or something? I mean this stuff isn't cheap. Maybe this was my chance to be a little huffy at him for waltzing in 10 minutes early, with all my open signs indicating closed and the dining area lights off. But no. He then proceeds to drop 2 dollars plus change in my tip jar. So in the end, I just smiled andthanked him as I watched oblivious customer number 2 saunter his way to the counter, despite massive evidence suggesting that I was closed.

So---on to my indie filmmaking experiences as of recent.

I painted my main character's room purple over the past 3 days. That's about all I can say about that. But it'll suffice. I have a long ways to go before I'm finished with this masterpiece.

Last night I met the male lead prospective and we agreed to agree on everything. I really liked him. There's no doubt that he is the individual I envisioned while writing the script for my next low-budget independent movie. We will probably meet up in a few days to sign the contract. I won't divulge details regarding the contract but it is the most I plan to pay anyone for this upcoming project and being the lead, deservedly so. I'm totally excited about having this guy on board. My main character will be in good hands.

Hopefully, I will meet another actor prospective later this week. I suggested an end-of-the-week meeting and am awaiting her reply.

Then on another note, as of this morning, one female role remained and a decent bite to fill it awaited me in my email, along with an attached photo from a young woman who stated she was interested in role #3, incidentally, the only role that is available, that is, if the above meeting with the female prospective goes as well as I think it will. You never know.

Anyway, things are looking up. I haven't heard from my main camera person yet but I have a couple of other talented camera persons that I hope to involve in this project, both of whom have already offered their services.

So---onward.
