Thomas and I discussed the scenes to be captured today. One of the actors was 30 minutes late but it wasn't a big deal. We just took the time to further plan for the day, besides, at least this actor called.
It all went rather smoothly. We ended up spending a little more time on a particular scene but a lot less time on two others so in the end we completed our days shooting about 2 hours early. We took that time to captured a couple of scenes that we hadn't gotten to this past Friday.
I stand now at the end of the tunnel glancing back. All scenes have been captured with the exception of one, a murder scene. We will have to get that later when every ones schedule coincides. It won't be a difficult.
There remains a few odd shots, mostly pieces of scenes, some of which will be filmed this afternoon and evening. It's difficult to believe that within a 5 day period, we have managed to shoot enough footage for a feature length film. It wasn't easy by no means. It was a grueling, starving, sleep-deprivation few days, but it was fun.
Upon reviewing much of the footage, Thomas and I discovered one or two things that surprised us - like a tripod relaxing in the background of one of our scenes, not the entire scene, but just one angle. We actually laughed about it because it looked so incredibly ridiculous lounging there just feet behind the actor and neither of us catching it. Hey - it happens.
We also had some color issues that will need to be corrected in post. Really won't know the scope of that task until I get in there and get dirty with it. There is also a snippet of a scene that needs to be re-filmed. I could use it if I had to but I don't so I'll contact the actor so we can re-film it, hopefully this week while Thomas is in town.
It was another late evening, Thomas and I staying up until after 2 am this morning. I awoke at 6 am and once again find myself at the coffee house. This afternoon, we'll rocket over to Asheville for the afternoon and evening shots. I'm pretty sure I sense a Starbucks visit in my near future, preferably the one on Charlotte street. We'll see.
For now, I'm wondering if I can prop my head back against the espresso machine, maybe throw on a pair of sunglasses and take naps between customers. I wonder if I snore when I sleep sitting up? Or drool?
Maybe I'll just have a double espresso.
