Coming Back to Life...

I'm sorta kinda back on track with life. I've been out of commission for a few days thanks to a horrendous cold I didn't ask for. Today, at the coffee house, I resumed my screenwriting, now up to 64 pages. I have to get back on Jordan's demo reel that I neglected during my down time due to a lack of everything creative upstairs. I'm a big baby - when I don't feel well, I pretty much shut down with the exception of performing the basic living functions such as eating and breathing.

I will take tomorrow off completely, from writing, from demo-making, etc, and then get back on the wagon Monday. I have to complete his demo as well as mine. If I can get a decent demo down for myself, I will then query agents, managers, producers, etc. It's not easy being objective about my own demo reel but I'll see what I can do.

I continue working my way from cover to cover through one of 13 filmmaking books my friend, Terry gave me. A lot of info. Much of it pertains to the legal aspect of filmmaking - the uninteresting but necessary part of the process that every filmmaker should know. Some of it I already know, some of it I don't, and some of it, I will read and still won't know.

I have decided to launch a second production company. BVP will still be involved in all my films but this second company will be a different puppy, one that currently resides only in my brain and in the developmental stages at that, so I won't elaborate much on that subject until I myself have a more distinct strategy down. It won't, however, be genre-oriented so as to restrict its intent. I'm tossing around various names, checking the dotcom and registered trademark availability and such. So many names are taken. Blame that on the online video-sharing surge that enables anyone with a $79 flip camcorder to present themselves as a production company.

Anyway.

My immediate plans are to stop coughing, drink a lot of coffee, and hit the local thrift shops this afternoon with my little guy. You find the darnedest things in those places. Props galore. I mean seriously - pick an era - and I could design a set and clothe my actors without ever breaking out the plastic. Much too cool.

Well - I'm going to continue writing my screenplay.

Out.
